“Batman, you say?”

I don’t know why that quote always sticks in my head. It’s from the wretched Batman Forever movie, which I saw during Game 1 of the 1995 Stanley Cup Finals.

My friend Vinnie had a radio headset with him in the theatre, and midway through the movie, he said Stephane Richer scored for the Devils. The game was tied at one by the time Val Kilmer took care of Tommy Lee Jones’ cokehead Two-Face and Jim Carrey’s Jim Carrey Riddler, and we got back to my other buddy Dean’s place in time to see Claude Lemieux rip the game-winner past Mike Vernon in the third period.

I remember that night like it was yesterday. I friggin’ love 1995.

Anyway, that was my Batman/Stanley Cup trip down memory lane. Fast forward to right now, and here is the first of two – count’em, TWO – Batman Foogos debuting this week. What we have here are blackberries for the logo used in the Christopher Nolan films, with banana slices filling the space. And then there’s the obligatory acute angle photograph:

EDITOR’S NOTE: On further examination, this isn’t the Nolan Bat-symbol at all. So I’m not sure where I plucked this from anymore…

I made this piece about two weeks ago. You can see the Cobra Foogos in the background, which I was slowly dismantling/eating over the course of the weekend.

Halfway through this Batman project, something wonderful happened, and it’s worthy of its own post, so come back tomorrow morning to see the grittier version of this icon.

And as always, the plugs. Please leave comments, suggestions and any other words that pop into your head. I dig the feedbacks:

  1. Awesome Batman! Something transformers maybe? And something dragonball z as well ( if you like the show, anime isn’t everyone’s cup of tea I understand). Keep’em coming though!

    • Hey John, thanks for the encouragement! I literally just got into Dragon Ball about 5 weeks ago. There’s a blog post about it somewhere on the site. Meanwhile, the Transformers are one of my favorite things from my childhood. I need to do them right. They are certainly on the list, though. Keep checking back for more!
