Otto Preminger as Mr. Freeze

Fear not, the freeze on Foogos updates has ended! (Worst pun to date? Maybe.)

It’s been a while, at least a month, but I’m plugging along with my cast of the 1966-68 Batman series.

I had planned on putting together Frank Gorshin as The Riddler next, but… I absolutely love the photo of Otto Preminger in his Mr. Freeze get-up. (I’m without the gypsy this weekend, so I’m free to Foogos myself silly. I may do the Riddler tomorrow… Jesus, none of that came out right.)  Here’s the original:I honestly don’t know anything about Preminger, but always assumed he was someone important in the early days of Hollywood, based solely on the fact that “Otto” would pop up as the answer to a crossword clue  (54 DOWN: Actor Preminger or ____ Preminger) at least once a week.

I forgot he was one of three actors to play Mr. Freeze. (George Sanders and Eli Wallach were the others.)

Wikipedia has also taught me that he died the day my friend Andrew was born. That’s… uh, cool?

As for the art, this is my favorite one to date of all my portraits, Batman-inspired or otherwise. I was low on white and green gummies, so I had to finally crack open my fourth and final mega-bag.

    • I did a cursory glance at his IMDB page. The man was a busy bee in the first half of the 20th century. I wonder how his ghost feels knowing that there are people like me who only recognize him as a cartoony crook dressed in silvery blue facepaint.
