To those of you following the Foogos Facebook page, its no news that I was approached by the International Quidditch Association to recreate their logo from food. We agreed on compensation, and it was off to the races.
The logo is the small icon in the center of the masthead, and it’s no secret that blue is my mortal enemy, so I had some work ahead of me…
This project fell my lap just before Easter, and given the Harry Potter connection, it wasn’t long before I decided that jelly beans would suffice for this logo. I bought two massive jars are Jelly Bellies and separated every reddish color into one pile, white/yellow/beige in another, and a mixtures of blues, purples, blacks and anything else dark. The final art is about two square feet.
Anyway, it’s all for the Quidditch Culinary Classic, which launches Monday. Here are the details, via Fanbolt.com. The post has a brief mention of Foogos, describing it as “an organization that specializes in transforming company logos into edible masterpieces.” Frankly, if anyone’s going to call me an organization, I would prefer it was “an ruthless terrorist organization determined to rule the world.” But whatever, free press is free press.
The IQA helped on that front, too, with this Tweet that set off the Culinary Classic buzz in the first place:
