It’s been a whirlwind of activity around here, with days blending into nights as I work tirelessly to ensure the success of the Foogos Food Drive. The idea started small, but thanks to the incredible efforts of my brother Steve, who managed to secure two collection centers in just 15 minutes and another four the very next day, it has blossomed into something much bigger. If you’re feeling generous, consider donating to Feeding America. As a token of my gratitude, anyone who donates $20 or more will receive some exclusive Foogos prints as a personal thank you.
While the food drive has consumed much of my time, it’s also been a period of creative reflection. One unexpected highlight of this past week was a shoutout from none other than Pee-Wee Herman. Late Friday night, he tweeted in response to the condiment portrait I created of him—a moment of validation that has given me a renewed sense of purpose in my work.
But let’s not dwell too long on the past. Instead, let’s look ahead at what’s coming up in the world of Foogos. Here’s a sneak peek at the projects I’ve got lined up for the next month or so, in no particular order:
1. Classic Game Controllers Series
- After the success of the Nintendo controller piece, I’ve decided to expand on this concept with a series dedicated to iconic game controllers. Expect to see everything from the Atari joystick to the PlayStation DualShock, each recreated in true Foogos style.
2. Retro TV Icons
- Inspired by the overwhelming response to my Pee-Wee Herman portrait, I’ll be diving into a series that pays homage to the television icons of yesteryear. From Mr. Rogers to the Brady Bunch, these pieces will be a nostalgic trip down memory lane.
3. Foodie Foogos
- In honor of the Foogos Food Drive, I’m working on a set of food-themed pieces. Think portraits made entirely of fruits, vegetables, and other edible items. It’s a fun and fitting way to tie my art to the cause we’re supporting.
4. Sports Logos Reimagined
- As a longtime sports fan, I’m excited to put my spin on some of the most recognizable logos in the sports world. From the New York Yankees to the Chicago Bulls, these designs will be reimagined with a Foogos twist.
5. Seasonal Specials
- With the holidays approaching, I’m planning a few seasonal pieces that will capture the spirit of the times. Expect to see everything from a Thanksgiving turkey to a Christmas tree, all rendered in the colorful, whimsical style that Foogos is known for.
As I continue to work on these projects, I’m reminded of how fortunate I am to be able to combine my passions for art and community service. The Foogos Food Drive has shown me that art can be more than just a visual experience—it can be a catalyst for change, bringing people together for a greater cause.
Stay tuned for more updates, and as always, thank you for your support!
