America’s Foogos

by | Oct 3, 2011 | Blog, NHL, Sport

In addition to all the stuff I really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really wanna do, I’ve also been taking orders. I want to get at least one request finished each week, and I know off the top of my head there’s the Steelers and Redskins in the NFL, Caps and Jets in the NHL, some NBA stuff I’m indifferent about, Dennis the Menace, a Hogwarts crest (that sounds fun), some European soccer team, and the Digitally Blonde logo, which I do have a sweet idea for.

And here, I’m getting the Dallas Cowboys out of the way. Booyah.

I took a wrap for my pizza crust, and just went with basic pizza ingredients: sauce and provolone to recreate the star, a basic shape. But how would I get the color? Black pepper. A lot of it. Too much of it.

If I wasn’t the kind of person who HATES when food goes to waste, there is no way I would have eaten this. But then again, I doused the thing in more cheese and sauce after taking the beauty shots. And it still tasted like a ground pepper sandwich.

Not. Delicious.

The real story about this is that this Cowboys logo (as well as an Arizona Cardinals logo) is the first piece I made on location at my sponsor’s restaurant, The Mountain Lakes Market. I announced the partnership way back in May, when Foogos was barely crawling out of the womb, but I never actually had the time to go to the Market and get any work done. Now that summer’s over, I hope to visit once a week to wreak my mad science in a real life food laboratory (kitchen). I’ve already had a good brainstorming session with the owner and head chef, Mike Schmitt, and I hope the result will be some special Foogos that will have some real longevity, like a real painting! Fingers crossed.

Tomorrow: Papa Shango Portrait COMPLETED!
