When I last showed the Papa Shango portrait I’m working on, it was in the very early stages, and I really didn’t expect it to be done anytime soon, a function of me being lazy rather than a matter of having a lot of work to do.
The process has been moving at a much brisker clip than I expected, and I’m so close that I might even finish it this weekend. (Duck Hunt, on the other hand, is nowhere near complete… still.) As you can tell by the image to the right, the good doctor still has a gaping hole in his chest. I’m going to work on his fingers and the staff a bit more, too, and obviously the background, which is currently doubling as my palette.
I don’t think I mentioned it last time, but the only colors I’m using in this piece are red, brown, white and black acrylics, of which I had copious leftovers from a project I completed three years ago.
Once this is done, I’m going to move onto another WWF (I refuse to call it WWE, pandas be damned) portrait, but I haven’t decided which 80s/early 90s Superstar I’m going to tackle just yet. I keep coming back to Mr. Perfect or Bam Bam Bigelow, though. As always, suggestions are always welcome!
TOMORROW: I haven’t decided yet…
