RUNNING & DRIVE-ING
As you read this, I am in Columbus, OH, running my third marathon in a quest to run a 26.2 mile race in all fifty states (to be interspersed with races in the Canadian provinces as well). The goal is under three hours. Columbus Marathon

Like I said on Friday, I’m hooked on this Drive soundtrack. I’m sure “A Real Hero” will be looping in my head throughout this race.

JEM IS TRULY OUTRAGEOUS AND THE REASON MY STANDARDS ARE UNFEASIBLY HIGH, WHICH IS ALSO TRULY OUTRAGEOUS
You can expect more cartoon and TV Foogos in the future. I’m trying to figure something out for Jem. I blame that girl my infatuation with blondes who sport pink streaks, like Jes from Rock of Love. Now that I think about it, that chick could totally play Jem in a movie. And why wouldn’t there be a Jem movie? They’re already coming out Battleship, and at least two Disney rides have become films of varying success (Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion).

WEDDING BLISS
Weeks ago, I submitted a design for a pal’s wedding cake topper. It was based on his love for the New Jersey Devils and the first initials of him and the bride-to-be. Apparently, he loved it and had it made fo’ riealz:Good times. I’m glad I get to have a lasting impression on their big day. It gives me an excuse to get a shittier wedding gift.

THE REALITY OF MY FANTASY TEAM
The Jack Skilletors, my fantasy hockey team, are stupidly dominant, spearheaded by the Flyers’ Claude Giroux.

BLACKHAWKS UPDATE
I’m trying to get into the Chicago Blackhawks, as per my agreement, but I’m just naturally more drawn to Philadelphia. They moved to 2-1 after defeating the new Winnipeg Jets on Thursday. They played the defending Stanley Cup Champion Boston Bruins last night, and I admittedly have no idea what happened. That whole get a good night’s rest before running a marathon and all.

CELEBRI-LOVE
When Pee-Wee Herman randomly tweeted to over one million followers (and posted a link on his Facebook page), it was hands down, the biggest thrill I’ve had since the inception of this project. I have a short list of celebrities I want to acknowledge my art, and then I will think it a resounding success, In no particular order:

  • Stan Lee (comics legend)
  • CM Punk (WWE wrestler)
  • John Buccigross (hockey analyst)
  • Samuel Jackson (Samuel Jackson)
  • Lady Gaga (she would be first on my list)
  • Don Cherry (I don’t think he even has Internet, so this would be a major challenge)

BRITISH CARTOONERY
Remember Bananaman?

I think it was from the same production studio as Count Duckula and Danger Mouse, but nowhere nearly as popular. Probably because people like me eat more bananas than Donkey Kong, and I never get powers from it. Just my daily recommended dose of potassium.

WHO YA GONNA READ?
I read a ton of comics this past week, but none captured my imagination as much as IDW’s Ghostbusters #1-2. These two issues (the former of which must have come out last month unbeknownst to me) packed in a lot of movie, TV show and toy references – the grasshopper car showed up on the Queensboro Bridge!

I had this Mantis car as a kid.

The Abbey Road homage cover is so good, I’m probably going to blow it up and put it on the Awesome Wall at work.

MORE SCARY STUFF
Halloween is right around the corner, and everyone loves a good scare. I for one, have a more than a few terrifying true stories that happened to me over the course of my life. (Ghosts and goblins absolutely love me. I guess I’m just in tune with that sort of thing.) Here’s one where I thought my brother was possessed by demons.
